Why one colour can look different across thread deniers
Fibre surface, thread diameter, lustre, stitch density and viewing light all influence perceived colour.
Colour is a material result
A dye formula is only one part of colour appearance. Thread diameter changes coverage and shadow; bright and matt surfaces reflect light differently; stitch direction and density change the amount of visible material.
Check under agreed lighting
Colour can shift under daylight, retail lighting and fluorescent light. Compare a physical standard and stitched sample under the lighting relevant to the final product, then record the approved reference for repeat orders.
Use digital cards correctly
Use the PDF card to narrow options and share colour codes. Final approval should use a physical card or sample because screen calibration, brightness and resolution vary by device.
